EDUCATOR
Nick's passion for music started when he picked up his first violin at the age of three. The grandson of the renowned violin pedagogue John Kendall, who introduced the Japanese Suzuki method to the United States in the 1960s, Nick is both a communicator and caretaker of his craft. He renews the Kendall family’s teaching tradition, awakening the vitality and the potential of music for a new generation.
Nick is never far from the source of joy he found in making music as an aspiring student. His concert for children Listen up: Music is a Language! sparks in young audiences a sense of wonderment and self-discovery, through sharing music and music-making with others.
Nick has produced and brought Listen up: Music is a Language! to various communities throughout the United States, including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony’s 2013-14 season of Young People’s Concerts at the Kennedy Center, and Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2022-23 season of School Concerts at Verizon Hall.
